OUR VEHICLES
Pioneer & Pioneer X
Unmatched capability. Unparalleled reach. Wherever your journey leads

OUR VEHICLES
A long-range, all-terrain vehicle for exploratory, defence and industrial purposes. Capable of autonomous or human-driven missions, our rugged but lightweight Pioneer vehicles are built for remote, hostile and unpredictable environments.
Our hybrid electric powertrain is run by a high-capacity multi-fuel generator, enabling unprecedented range and reliability with reduced environmental impact. Its lightweight composite structure adds to that reach, and the modular architecture enables easy customisation for any off-grid mission.
Pioneer is designed go further, carry more – and adapt to any terrain with AI-powered confidence.
PIONEER
A long-range, all-terrain expedition vehicle built for those who rely on independence and capability in remote or hostile environments
Its hybrid electric system, lightweight composite structure and modular architecture provide exceptional endurance, low environmental impact and reliable off grid operation
The Pioneer is designed to go further, carry more and adapt to any terrain with confidence

PIONEER
Platform Highlights
[All-Terrain Mobility]
The Pioneer excels in environments where traditional vehicles fail. It climbs 60 per cent gradients, operates fully submerged and maintains traction and stability across sand, ice, mud and rock. Its chassis and suspension system are designed for reliability and comfort in even the harshest conditions.
[Power Generation]
The Pioneer provides up to 60 kWh of continuous onboard power for drones, scientific equipment, communications systems and specialist tools. This capability removes the need for external generators and supports true off-grid operation
[Modularity]
The modular structure allows the Pioneer to be rapidly modified for diverse missions. Cabin layouts, payload carriers and equipment mounting points can be quickly reconfigured for exploration, research, industrial or defence/reconnaissance use.
PIONEER X
A high-mobility, long-range expeditionary platform designed with input from global specialist user groups
Extended range, low-signature operation, rapid reconfiguration and exceptional terrain handling
Engineered for critical military missions where independence, reliability and flexibility are essential

PIONEER X
Platform Highlights
[ROBUST Power Plant]
The 60 kWh generator supports both mobility and mission-critical systems including C4I, sensors and UAV charging. This onboard power capability reduces logistical dependency and ensures operational readiness.
[Payload and Modularity]
The platform is compatible with systems compliant with NATO’s STANAG specifications and a wide range of other mission-specific modules. Its lightweight structure provides high payload capacity while maintaining robust performance.
[Silent Operation]
When silence counts, you can count on Pioneer X. The vehicle can be operated – either autonomously or by a human – for up to 80 kilometres solely by electric power. This minimises both its acoustic and thermal signatures, allowing for discreet reconnaissance, infiltration or other patrols.

Engineering Heritage
Pioneer and Pioneer X were developed by the cutting-edge engineering team at Fering UK. Fering Defence Canada modifies these vehicles with its Talos systems – named for the giant bronze automaton of Greek mythology, forged from bronze to protect Crete. Talos integrates a proprietary autonomy software stack with AI, sensing systems, and a powerful but easy-to-use console for remote mission planning and monitoring. Drawing on FDC’s broad engineering capabilities, Talos has been built to function consistently in harsh, unpredictable environments and was developed in collaboration with InDro Robotics, the Canadian leader in building proven autonomous solutions for reconnaissance, space exploration research, long-range remote teleoperation and demanding terrain.
Weapons Integration
The vehicles support heavy-duty ring mounts and leading Remote Weapon Stations, engineered to accommodate mission-critical systems without structural compromise. Reinforced mounting points and load-bearing architecture ensure stability under operational stress while preserving vehicle balance and performance. These systems integrate seamlessly into the platform’s modular design, maintaining mobility, endurance and off-road capability even when fully equipped.

Engineering Heritage
Fering UK’s engineering team has contributed to some of the most iconic performance vehicles ever produced, including the Mercedes SLR, LaFerrari, the McLaren P1 and the Caparo T1. Founder and CTO Ben Scott Geddes applies world class performance engineering to the challenges of expedition mobility. This legacy of lightweight innovation and structural efficiency defines every component of the Pioneer line. Fering Defence Canada’s addition of its Talos system and Talos Remote Console further expands Pioneer’s capabilities across multiple use-cases. FDC also provides technical support, additional customisation and training in Canada.
Range and Sustainability
The Pioneer and Pioneer X deliver up to 7,000 km of independent mobility with a hybrid electric system that continuously recharges the onboard battery. The existing multi-fuel or hydrogen-capable generator (currently under development) dramatically reduce emissions, supporting long-duration expeditions with a reduced environmental footprint. If using sustainably-sourced hydrogen, its net carbon footprint is zero.
