Fering Defence Canada was founded with a single ambitious goal: To deliver an autonomous, AI-driven, self-sufficient vehicle capable of navigating the most extreme conditions on the planet. In collaboration with AI and autonomy experts InDro Robotics, we stand on the shoulders of Fering UK's unprecedented development of extreme-range, rugged and lightweight modular vehicles. The UK engineering team behind Fering contributed to some of the world’s most advanced performance vehicles, including the Mercedes SLR, LaFerrari, the McLaren P1 and the Caparo T1. InDro Robotics is Canada’s leader in autonomy software, hardware and custom robotics for the industrial and defence sectors.

Fering UK’s background in lightweight structures and high-efficiency design directly influenced the development of the Pioneer. The first prototype proved the viability of long-range hybrid electric mobility in real-world conditions. Building on that foundation, the introduction of Pioneer X in 2025 extended the platform into expeditionary and military applications. Now, Fering Defence Canada, with the expertise of InDro Robotics, has enabled the option of fully autonomous versions of both vehicles in the support of highly specialised, demanding missions across multiple use-cases.
